Local publications are a connection to the community - a way to meet others who make up the fabric of your town. What I enjoy most about writing local stories is the response from those I feature. I've had Emmy-award winning producers, local celebrities and shopkeepers send me thank you notes exclaiming how excited they were to see their name in print and how many copies their parents or grandparents picked up! I'm always entertained when an adult in their 40s or 50s tells me about their parents' pride at seeing their child's name in print. I also write for our local newspaper, but I live in such a small town that the paper isn't available online, so below are samples of my work from our local/regional magazines.
